John was born in Gilford, Michigan on December 11, 1911. As an infant his family returned to Yugoslavia. At the age of 18 he returned to the United States and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed with the Joseph & Feiss Co., a clothing Manufacturer. On July 22, 1939 he married Erika Mocha who preceded him in death on June 11, 1988. Later in his career he was employed by the M. Wile & Co. in Buffalo, N.Y. as a quality control supervisor. After retirement in 1976 he and Erika moved to California where they settled in Yucaipa in 1978. As a resident of the Sun Park II Retirement Community he became involved with the administration of the Park. Recently he moved to the Mediterranean Gardens Assisted Living Community where he endeared himself to all. His lifelong hobbies included stamp collecting with many pen-pals worldwide and his love of gardening, which resulted in his falling out of a tree at the age of 81. He shared his produce with family, friends, and neighbors who would always reciprocate with food made from his bounty. His happiest moments were spent with his family and outdoors, especially Newport Beach in California and the Arizona Desert, which he described as Ungodly Hot. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Yucaipa, CA with visitation at 12 noon and the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Desert Lawn Cemetery, Calimesa, CA.
