Obituary for Joseph Saleh Haddad Redlands, CA - Yousef (Joseph) Saleh Haddad, 78, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his son's home in Redlands, CA following a long struggle with COPD (Stage 4) and Emphysema. He was a widower and leaves behind 6 children, Rajaei Haddad, Arthur J Haddad, Hannada Haddad, Susan Haddad, Tony Haddad, and Christina Kiriakos; 19 Grand Children; 3 brothers and a sister; and many others who loved him. Born and raised in Jerash, Jordan, the son of Saleh and Hanna Haddad, he moved to the United States in 1964 to provide a better life for his family where he lived in Chicago, Il until he again moved to San Bernardino, CA in April of 1982. In his early years, he dropped out of school in the 10th grade and worked as a mechanic to support his family (father, mother and siblings) in Jordan. He was married in February, 1963 to Mary Haddad and gave birth to their first son, Rajaei in Jerusalem. Then decided to move to the USA in 1965 and had their other 5 children while living in Chicago. While in Chicago, he lived with his family in a south Chicago town called Hegewisch. He was mostly responsible for bringing a vast majority of his family to the USA from Jordan where they are now prosperous, hard working US Citizens. He worked as a Welder, mechanic and eventually became a small business owner. He and his wife decided to move to Southern California where he was a small business owner until his wife died in 1993. After a period of time, opened an Iron Works shop until he could not work any longer due to his illness and moved in with his son Arthur, in Redlands, CA in August, 2015. Joseph was a very devout Catholic of the Melkite rite. In his time, he was responsible for the creation of two (2) community Melkite Catholic churches. One in Hammond, In, St. Michael Arch Angel Church and the other in San Bernardino, CA. He was also a devoted family man and loved his wife and children above all else. A vigil will be held at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel on Thursday evening, Sept. 10, 2015 from 4-9 PM. The funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 10:00am at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Redlands, CA followed by the burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic cemetery.
