Joyce A. Braswell

Joyce A. Braswell, 77, passed on the evening of May 6th 2015 at her home in Yucaipa, CA in the presence of her loving and devoted husband and family . Joyce was born in Yuma, Arizona to her parents Harold and Bessie Johnson who preceded her death . Joyce and her family had humble beginnings, living in a cardboard chicken shack. The family stayed in Arizona for a short time and worked as migrant fruit workers and cotton pickers along their journey to Lindsey, California. Joyce was a social worker at Leroy's Boys Home in Pomona, CA where she met and soon married James W. Braswell in 1960. The couple taught school for five years before beginning their service in the nursing home business in 1962 in Pomona, CA. They expanded their services to the seniors in the Inland Empire in 1965, where Joyce was the joint owner and operator of Braswell Family Senior Care. Joyce is survived by her husband, James W. Braswell, her three children; Joy, Jimmy and Julie and seven grandchildren; Jerrad, Janaee, Alexa, Jestine, James, Joyce and Lauren. Joyce's (MOM) angelic presence set a heavenly example for her family and friends second to only one (Christ) and she will be dearly missed. Services scheduled for Thursday, May 14th, 2015 at 2:30pm with viewing one hour prior to service at the Yucaipa Christian Church,12954 Bryant St., Yucaipa, CA.
