Judi Rosenberg was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 9th, 1933, to Gertrude Nadler and Bert Handelsman. She is survived by her four children, Julie Walter, Marsie Rosenberg Gutierrez, Rick Rosenberg, and Charlie Rosenberg; her grandchildren Jeff Walter and Ella Rosenberg; her sister Ann Wallace, and her brother Burt Solomon. She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Rosenberg, and her parents Gertrude and stepfather Jack Solomon.
Judi grew up in Youngstown, Miami Beach and Brooklyn. Judi’s mother married her second husband, Jack Solomon, in 1946, and at the age of 13, Judi gained two siblings, Ann and Burt. Judi attended Emerson College in Boston and graduated with a BS in Speech Therapy. Boston is also where she met her husband, Herb Rosenberg. The two married in the summer of 1956, and Herb took a job in Livermore, California, where their first daughter, Julie, was born.
When Herb took a new job in the San Fernando Valley in 1958, the family moved to Reseda, California, where Marsie and Rick were born. In 1971, the family moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where their youngest son, Charlie, was born. Judi attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she received a Master’s in Social Work. Herb’s work brought the family back to California, this time to Redlands.
Over the course of her career, Judi worked at many schools and institutions, especially ones for children with various disabilities. She completed her clinical hours, tested for her clinical social work license, and practiced therapy within a private practice. Judi was known for her passion for helping others and for her Jewish heritage, as well as for her sociability, energy, spirit and sense of humor. Perhaps she is known the best for her love for her children and grandchildren, as well as the many members of her extended family. Judi surrounded her children with music of all kinds, instilling in them a love for the performing arts, involving them in piano, dance, and theater.
A funeral service will be held at the Home of Eternity Cemetery at 801 N Sierra Way, San Bernardino, CA 92410.
