June Lane

June 4, 1934 — April 30, 2012

June Evelyn Lane (nee Taluzek), 77, died in Smyrna, Tennessee on Monday, April 30, 2012. June was a former resident of Yucaipa and Hemet California, where she lived for over 35 years. She was born on June 4, 1934, in Chicago Illinois. June was the oldest child of Howard and Evelyn Taluzek, and sister to Jean Elaine. As a young adult she worked in downtown Chicago in the offices of the Wrigley Building. On August 4, 1952, June married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, John Elmer Lane, Jr. at Beverly Baptist Church in Chicago. They became the parents of five children, and June devoted her life to raising them. During this time she and John were active members of Moraine Valley Church in Palos Heights, Il where they worked in children's clubs, Sunday school, and youth groups in which the children were involved. She was always gracious in sharing her home with her own friends and those of her children, and became known as mom to many. In 1976 June and the family moved to Yucaipa, CA, to support John in a camping ministry with Child Evangelism Fellowship. They joined First Baptist Church of Yucaipa, and later Valley Baptist Church, where she formed many new friendships that would last the rest of her life. She continued to be involved in the lives of her children, supporting them in good times and bad. June entered the work force again as the owner of a small dress shop in Yucaipa, and later attended junior college to become a child care teacher, where she was able to use her nurturing skills to care for many infants and young children. In retirement, June and John enjoyed traveling in their motor home to visit their children and grandchildren around the country, as well as visiting England, St Thomas and many other destinations. About 10 years ago they moved to Hemet, CA, where they attended First Baptist Church of Hemet, and made many more new friends. When her sweetheart and husband John began having health problems she once again devoted her life to caring for him, until his death in December, 2011. At the time of his passing they had been married for 59 years. After his death, June moved to Smyrna TN, to live with one of her daughters. Although she was only there for a short time, she touched the hearts of all who met her. June is survived by her five children: Debra Kloese of Oak Forest , IL, Gayle Reece of Corona, CA, Kimberly O'Connell of Smyrna, TN, Barbara Lane of Rim Forest, CA, and Craig Lane of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She also survived by 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces. June was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Lane, and her beloved younger sister, Jean. A memorial service for June Lane will be held at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Yucaipa, CA, on Saturday, May 5 , 2012 at 12 noon. Burial will be Monday, May 7, 20012 at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a children's charity of your choice.
