Leah Carol Rice

Leah Carol Rice (Maas), 84, born December 25, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, passed away, May 5, 2011 at Redlands Community Hospital, Redlands, CA, of pneumonia, surrounded by her loved ones. Leah is survived by daughters, Francine Rice-Laabs and Deborah C. Alvers of Yucaipa, CA; son, Timothy L. Rice of Brady Lake, Ohio; sister Bernadette Liebe, brother Arthur Maas, brother-in-law George Hamman, and sister-in-law Carol Maas of WI. Preceded in death by her husband Carl. She was previously a 35 year resident of Ravenna, Ohio before moving to Yucaipa 14 years ago. She was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed baking. She liked watching professional basketball, football, NASCAR racing and Dancing with the Stars. She was a loyal Green Bay Packers fan. Leah vacationed with her daughters at the beach every year and loved attending cultural events with them. Family get togethers and social events were an important part of Leah s life. Prayer Vigil will be from 6-8 P.M., Thursday, May 12 at the Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands. Funeral Mass 10 A.M. Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church, 12687 California St., Yucaipa, with Internment at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
