Lorna Mae James

Lorna Mae James, 91, of Loma Linda, CA passed away January 26, 2019, surrounded by her family. Lorna was born Lorna Mae Waters to Cornelius Frances and Edna May (Scott) Waters on May 17, 1927, in Paicines. CA.
Lorna outlived all of her brothers and sisters and was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Richard A. James, just over a year ago. She is survived by her sons, Jerry A. James and John A. James, their wives Lorene and Vanessa as well as her grand -daughter, Ashley, and her great grandson, Liam McNeil.
Lorna grew up with her two brothers and six sisters on a ranch near Holister, CA and moved to Loma Linda to attend the school of nursing. She met her husband at the Sanatarium and they were married Christmas day in 1950. Lorna worked as a nurse at Loma Linda spending many years on the Labor and Delivery unit as well as work with the school of nursing and multiple volunteer positions at the hospital gift shop and the Ronald McDonald House. Lorna was a long time member of the Redlands Seventh Day Adventist Church where she attended until her health issues prohibited it. She loved cooking, baking, working in her garden, water aerobics, and studying her Bible. In recent months she most enjoyed time spent with her great grandson, Liam.
Lorna will be laid to rest on February 13, 2019. There will be a service at 11:00 am Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel at 703 Brookside Ave. Redlands, CA 92373 with interment at the Hillside Cemetery and a reception at 1:00 pm, at the Redlands SDA Church at 520 Brookside Ave., Redlands, CA 92373.
