Louise Evelyn Moffitt

April 23, 1913 — September 25, 2015

Louise Evelyn Moffitt, was born April 23, 1913 in Colfax, Indiana to Earl and Ruth Cohee Tankersley. She died September 25, 2015 at Assisted Living of America, Yucaipa, California. She graduated from Colfax High School, in 1930. For many years she held the honor of being the oldest living graduate. In 1931 she graduated from Indiana Business College at Lafayette. She was united in marriage with Ned Moffitt November 18, 1933 at Frankfort, Indiana. They were married in the same parsonage where her parents were married in 1912. Louise and Ned moved to Los Angeles, California in 1936. In 1954 they moved to Yucaipa. They were active members of St. Frances X. Cabrini Catholic church. Ned was an automobile mechanic and volunteered his expertise to maintain the first school bus belonging to the church. Louise was a member of the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. Ned died in 1984. In 1985 Louise moved to Redlands. During her years there she was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She leaves behind daughters: Sharon Cowen, Kansas City, Missouri, Judith Michelson, Sacramento, California and Cathy (Mark) Weinstein, Redlands, California; grandson, Steven (Crystal) Cowen, Lawrence, Kansas; and 2 great granddaughters, Mary Gabrielle and Caroline Loretta Cowen, Lawrence, Kansas. Graveside services were held October 1, 2015 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, Calimesa. The family would like to thank Sonoran Winds Hospice for their services during her final weeks and Mike and Zena Aspe of Assisted Living of America for their loving care, home cooked meals and providing a home-like atmosphere the past 2 ½ years of our mother's life.
