Margaret Majaj, of Redlands, California died on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at her home, after a year-long battle with a lung tumor. Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, December 1, 1916, to Rashid and Malakeh Mayer, Margaret was a famous seamstress who sewed dresses for the King of Jordan s daughter in the early 1960 s. Margaret, her husband John, and their two children, Nadeem and Leila immigrated to the United States after the 1967 war, where Margaret worked at the La ZBoy chair factory, Harris s and other clothing establishments. In her late 80 s, Margaret learned how to shoot pool at the Joslyn Senior Center and also learned how to create computer-graphic artwork. She participated in several Senior Olympics and won several awards for her artwork. She was a regular musician at the Senior Center, where she played five instruments. Margaret is survived by her daughter Leila Kirkconnell (and her husband Bob), son Nadeem Majaj (and his wife Silvia), granddaughters Marcy Brooks, Tala Majaj, Deema Majaj and sister-in-law, Nemeh Maher. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 on May 31, 2012.
