Maria Kuri Joseph
January 22, 1936 - May 5, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Kuri Joseph, age 85. She passed away unexpectedly from a sudden cardiac arrest on May 5th, 2021. It brings her family great comfort to know that her death was peaceful and painless. Maria spent her final moments enjoying an evening walk with her friends on a beautiful spring evening in Redlands, CA.
Maria was born and raised in Mexico City to parents Michael and Matilda Kuri. She grew up in a large and loving family of five sisters and one brother, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Maria worked as a secretary and department store cashier, where she met the love of her life and future husband of 62 years. She was married to Shomon Joseph in 1958, and moved with him to Indiana. They welcomed their first son Shomon shortly after, followed by their daughter Annette, son Armond and youngest daughter Maria.
In 1969, the family of six moved to Yucaipa, CA where they purchased a home and an apartment building. Maria helped her husband manage the building for many years.
Maria was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. Her vivacious, outgoing personality and contagious laughter made her beloved by all who met her, and she made friends everywhere she went.
Maria loved to travel with her husband and they were fortunate to have traveled all around the world. She enjoyed collecting mementos from each country she traveled to and enjoyed sharing her experiences with her family.
Maria was a remarkable woman who lived simply, gave generously, and shared an amazing and exemplary marriage with her husband until his passing in September 2020.
Maria was a devout Catholic, and loyal parishioner at St. Frances X Cabrini Catholic Church. Her funeral service will be held at the church on June 3rd at 10:00 am.

We are grateful that Maria is at peace, and she is survived by many who love her deeply. Her life was a living example of Romans 12:12..."Rejoice in Hope, endure in affliction, and persevere in prayer."
Eternal rest grant to her, O Lord.
