Marie Thompson Kime Died peacefully in her Redlands' home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 9, 2015, at the age of 88. Born in 1926, in Bronaugh, Missouri, Marie earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Kansas State University Pittsburg and a Master's degree at the University of California. In 1953, she and her husband, lifelong Redlands High School teacher Jay L. Kime, moved to Redlands. Marie was an educator for more than 45 years, working for a school in Russell Kansas as well as Redlands Junior High School, Cope Junior High School, and Clement Junior High School in Redlands. She was a member of the Redlands First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Redlands Retired Teachers' Association. She was also active in ADK Fidelis and had served as president of P.E.O. chapter DW. Beloved mother and grandmother, Marie is survived by her children Thomas Kime, Barbara Leigh-Shields, and Ellen Kime, PhD, and by her adult grandchildren Amber Shields, Suzanne Shields, Michael Shields, and William Kime-Hunt. A celebration of Marie's life will be held on Monday, March 23, at 11:00 am in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church, One E. Olive Ave., Redlands, CA.
