Mary Lou Gibson

Mary Lou Gibson was born in Wichita, Kansas, in 1920. She was raised on a farm near Hutchinson and remembers her childhood fondly. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1938 and was a secretary at Great American Insurance Company at age 21. In 1941, Mary went to California to marry her high school sweetheart Bill Gibson Sr. who had enlisted in the Coast Guard and was stationed in San Diego. Upon her husband s retirement in 1977, they moved to Yucaipa, where Mary was a member of the California Association of Realtors for 30 years. She helped many people find homes for their families in the Yucaipa area. In her later years, she was an avid sports fan; she enjoyed cheering on her favorite team. Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 1979 and moved to Calimesa until her passing. Mary was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa for 35 years. She also became a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter RH in 1979. She is survived by her son Bill Gibson Jr. and his wife Cheri of Oroville, CA; her son Craig Gibson and his wife Ruth of Hutchinson, KS; and her daughter Jeri Pittsenberger and her husband Ron of Yucaipa. She treasured 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mary was thankful for her family, friends and longevity.
