Mary Ellen Wintemute, almost 90, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024. Born on November 14, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mary Ellen grew up in Harbor Beach and later lived in a Detroit suburb before relocating to California in 1974. She had been a cherished resident of Redlands, California, since 2016.
Mary Ellen was the beloved wife of James Wintemute, whom she married on November 27, 1954. James predeceased her on October 14, 2016. Together, they raised four devoted children: Shelley Rodriguez of Redlands, Christy Woodward of Clarkesville, Georgia, Nancy Kimbrough of Rosamond, California, and John Wintemute of Thousand Oaks, California. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Leah, Danielle, Heather, and Kourtney, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mary Ellen is also survived by her sister, Lorene Eidenberger, who resides in The Villages, Florida.
An active member of the Sylvan Park congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Redlands, Mary Ellen touched the lives of many with her kindness, faith, and unwavering spirit.
She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
