On a beautiful Sunday, November 9, 2014, a humble man passed from this earth. Oral Ray Covington, age 84, born in Hurricane, Utah on June 27, 1930, departed his earthly body and returned with honor to his Heavenly Father. There he was greeted by his parents, Isaac Loren and Anna Eagar Covington and brothers, Loren Clell, DuRell Garth, Justin Max and Delbert Ross. Oral is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Hanna Louisa (Terry) Covington, and sister, Alice May Thompson. He is also survived by, as he always told her, ?the prettiest girl in the whole world?, daughter, Becki Joy Presley (Darrell), and his beloved sons: Stanley Ray (Kazuko), Richard Craig and Robert Darrin (Diana), children from his first marriage to Muriel Hibbert Covington. In addition, Oral was blessed with four loving step-daughters: Sherran Hawkins (Fred), Jeanne Johnson (Raymond), Teri Watson (Don), Kathleen Bahamondes (Sergio), and 22 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren that brought him much joy and love. He worked in the commercial construction field in Las Vegas for 32 years, retiring in 1986 from J.A. Tiberti Construction Company as a very well respected Superintendent. Following retirement, Oral and Hanna traveled throughout the world, visiting 45 foreign countries and 30 islands. Oral served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission. He furthered his education at Dixie College and Brigham Young University where his father, son and grandchildren also attended. He majored in commercial art and followed in his father?s artistic footsteps creating beautiful pieces of art which are being enjoyed by so many. He served as a counselor in 3 bishoprics in Las Vegas. Oral and Hanna were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple on January 28, 1978. Oral served as an ordinance worker in the St. George temple for 18 years. His legacy lives on in his children, their children, and the wonderful structures he built will be a constant reminder that he was here. He lived in the state of Zion and now he has returned to Zion.
