Paul Naoyuki Hayashi

July 11, 1947 — December 27, 2022

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Paul was born in Toyko, Japan

as a U.S. citizen in 1947. He spent most of his youth in Seattle, WA, where he graduated

from Rainier High School. Following high school, he attended the University of Washington

and later enlisted in the Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served as a photojournalist

and was stationed in Japan, Thailand, and various bases in the United States, including the

Pentagon. Following his retirement as a Master Sergeant, he earned an Associate’s Degree

from Syracuse University and taught photojournalism at a Regional Occupational Program

in Redlands, CA. He also started a successful commercial photography business. “He lived

with his camera!” He was married to his wife, Ella, for forty-five years. They resided in

Redlands, Calimesa, and Yucaipa, where they raised two children, Hannah, and James, and

two grandchildren, Austin and Chaim. Paul over the years had many pets that he loved and

took care of from a mouse, hamsters, pigeons, chickens, dogs, and cats. He was a person of

integrity who was well-liked and respected by others. He will be missed.
