Paula Kay Farmer Dill

Redlands native, Paula Kay Farmer Dill, 77, passed away on May 8, 2015. She was born July 23, 1937 at Redlands Community Hospital. She was married to Russell Kendrick Dill for 54 years. Paula was the daughter of Paul B Farmer and Fay Kemp Farmer. In December 1936 they moved to California from Oklahoma during in the Dust Bowl migration. Paul and Fay Farmer, Paul's parents, Henry Lester and Serena Bell Crook Farmer, younger brother, Jack and wife Dahlia, and youngest brother, Walter, loaded a 1926 Chevrolet 1-ton truck with all their possessions and came West to Yucaipa where oldest sister, Lucille lived - arriving on Dec 23. Later they moved to the old Cram House on Third Street in East Highland where Paul farmed for the J D Langford Ranch. Paula was born six months after their arrival in California. Paula attended elementary school at the original Mission Elementary followed by Redlands Junior High and graduated from Redlands High School in 1955. Paula was a member of Kimberly Juniors during her high school years. She attended San Bernardino Valley College, San Jose State University and graduated from the University of Redlands with a teaching credential. Taught one year of elementary. Paula, along with Del Choate and Phyllis Davis started Andiamo in 1963. A club which would be educational for its members as well as funa club of which it would be a privilege to belong. As members they looked for people who were fun, talented, artistic and easy to get along with. Because of the spirit and enthusiasm toward life with which this idea was met, the name "Andiamo" was chosenAn Italian phrase meaning "Let's Go". Andiamo still thrives today, just celebrating 52 years. She has enjoyed many sports and hobbies including tennis, tole painting, skiing, jewelry making, Bible study, gardening, reading and travel. Her current passion was golf. Paula was a long time member of the First Congregational Church. She served on the Board of Directors for the Redlands YMCA, becoming the first woman president of the board. She started the Gourmet Grazing fundraiser during her time on the board. Paula served on the Board of Redlands Community Hospital. She was also both a docent and board member of Kimberly Crest. Paula had a generous heart and was a loyal supporter of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Guild for Loma Linda University Children's Hospital since its inception in 1999. Survived by husband Russell, daughters Andrea and Denise, brother, Tim (Dodie), nieces Amy Farmer Allsup (Mike), Wynee Farmer Orland (Dave) and Mandy Farmer MacIntyre (Marc) cousin, Jean an Dorn (Ernie), brother-in-law Fred Dill, nieces Laci Dill Chandra (Fred) and Jena Dill Shultz (Donald). Services will be held Monday May 18 at 11 am at the First Congregation Church in Redlands. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Kimberly Crest and Big Hearts for Little Hearts.
