God's good and faithful servant, Raul T. Alvarez, passed away on the evening of Sunday, October 14th, 2018. Raul was born on April 26, 1929 in Redlands, California. He and his family lived in Redlands, California, until 1962, when he moved them to Lancaster, California, to work at Edwards Air Force Base. He was employed there for 36 years and retired in 1986.
Raul was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was blessed by a large and loving family. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them to explore the gospel and a love for Jesus Christ, praying for each and every one of them and their families every single day without fail. Raul Alvarez was truly a beautiful blessing to this world, with a smile that could light up an entire room. He was a perfect example of a happy, joyful, and very patient man.
Raul was preceded in death by his beautiful, loving wife, Vera Alvarez. He is survived by six children: Frank Lopez (Sherry) of Redlands, California; Sally Reynolds (Norman) of Temecula, California; Raul Alvarez (Gloria) of Huntington Beach, California; Alice Pasqual of Bristol, Rhode Island; Lennie Alvarez of Hesperia, California; and Jackie Tomasik of Lakewood, Colorado. He was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Raul is also survived by two brothers, Henry Alvarez of Hemet, California, and Johnny Alvarez of Redlands, California, and preceded in death by his sister, Isabel Alvarez Escudero.
Services will be held on Thursday, November 1st at Emerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, California, at 11:00 a.m. with the burial immediately following at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, California. There will be a reception following the graveside service at the American Legion in Redlands, California, 1532 Church Street, Redlands, California 92374.
