Obituary of Richard Dean Collins On Wednesday, August 7, 2013, Richard Dean Collins of Calimesa, California passed away at Redlands Community Hospital. Richard was 70 years old and preceded in death by his beloved wife Judith Mae Collins. Richard is survived by his first wife and close friend Virginia and their three sons Jeffrey, Scott and Robert as well as his step-children Kenneth, Douglas and his daughter, Jana. Richard was born December 14, 1942 in Los Angeles where he was raised and he studied accounting at The University of Southern California. In 1974 Richard moved to Massachusetts where he worked as a sales representative for Great Western Wines until 1977 when he and Judith moved back to Southern California and purchased Fontana Maintenance Supply. Richard and Judith eventually converted Fontana Maintenance Supply into San Bernardino and Riverside Counties Fire Equipment which is still in operation today. In 1990 Richard and Judith built a home in the British West Indies on the island of Anguilla where their entire family frequently vacationed and is still enjoyed today. Richard was involved in many charities in Fiji, Anguilla and the United States including City of Hope. Richard was a self-made and successful businessman greatly loved and admired by his entire family and friends in particular for his sharp wit and compassion. A memorial service will be held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel located at 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, CA on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with grave-side service to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Redlands. The family has requested donations to Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
