It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Hastings announce his passing on Nov 15, 2020 at Redlands Community Hospital.
Robert is a retired Master Chief Hospital Corpsman. He also is a painter, an author of 3 childrens books The Blue Kangaroo, The Spirit Wolf, and The Mysterious Door which was co authored by his 12 year grandson at the time. He also wanted to be a violinist.
Robert grew up in the small town of Donegal, Pennsylvania. He knew something bigger was beyond that small rural town which led him to his military career. He had no idea that the beginning of his career would take him to Vietnam. When he finished his tour, he moved back to Pennsylvania but soon realized his love was for the sea and reenlisted. His journeys brought him all around the world for the next 20 years and finally settled in Yucaipa, California after retirement with his wife, Virginia.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Keith, daughters Jill and Kerry, his brother John, his sisters Kathleen, Patty and Carol as well as 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
His funeral will be on the 3rd of December at 12:15pm, at Riverside National Cemetery.
Remember me in your hearts, in your thoughts, and in the memories of the time we shared and loved.
