Robert Duane Palmer December 31, 1922 to September 27, 2014 In Loving Memory, Robert Duane Palmer, 91, of Calimesa, was born in Harper, Kansas, to Leona Wilcox and Robert Lee Palmer. He was raised on a farm by his mother and beloved Granddad, Franklin B. Wilcox. He moved to Ontario, California and graduated from Chaffey High School in 1940. He worked for Douglas Aircraft before joining the U.S. Navy in WWII, and served in the South Pacific on an LCT7Z, with landings in Lei, Holandia, and Wadkei New Guinea. After the war he became a letter carrier in the Ontario Post Office where he met his future wife, Marion E. Randolph, who worked there as a clerk. They married on January 23, 1948 and celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing. He loved fishing, camping, tractors, reading, riding horses, and walking his dog Shorty. Survivors include 2 daughters, Dana Graham (Bobby) of Calimesa and Diana Rector of Calimesa; and nephew Dirk DeWitt of Scottsdale, Arizona. Duane was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Norman, sister, Julianne; and son-in-law, John Rector. Services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Staging Area #8, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, CA on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 at 11:31am.
