Robert F. Jurgens, 89, of Yucaipa passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Highland, Ca. Born October 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, Robert was the third of twelve siblings. He is survived by six brothers; Don Jurgens of Michigan, Roland Jurgens, Wayne Jurgens, Lowell Jurgens, Richard Jurgens, and Glenn Jurgens, all residents of Illinois and two sisters; Adelle O’Sullivan of Illinois and Audrey McGuckin of Indiana. He was a loving father to his two sons; Gregg Jurgens of Chewelah, Washington and Tom Jurgens of Redlands, California and his daughter, Laura Neely of Highland, California; and caring grandfather to his two grandsons, Anthony “TJ” Jurgens of Washington and Robert Neely of Highland, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Marie “Toni” Jurgens in 1994. Robert served for a short time in the US Army at the end of World War II and moved from Chicago to California with his young family around 1959. He settled in Yucaipa and started his career working as a meat-cutter for Stater Bros. Markets for over 30 years before retiring in 1991. A kind and gentle man; Robert enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, playing keno, watching football, going to the horse races and living life to the fullest with his friends and family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 35208 Yucaipa Blvd., in Yucaipa. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Desert Lawn Cemetery, 11251 Desert Lawn Drive, in Calimesa.
