Ronald Iver Severson, 88, passed away on April 24, 2017 in Redlands. He was a long time resident of Redlands and a Retired Lt. Col. U.S.M.C serving as a Naval Aviator Pilot flying mostly Fighter Airplanes. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Air Medals, Navy Commendation Medal and made over 100 Aircraft Carrier Landings. He was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 27, 1928 to Ludwig P. and Alma Louise Severson. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Redlands, Sons of Norway, Alpha Kappa Psi Life Member and the Marine Corps Aviation Association Life Member. He attended Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, MN; Old Dominion University and Armed Forces Staff College, both in Norfolk, VA.
He is survived by Rebecca Louise Flinn, Daughter and Ronald Iver Severson, Jr., Son, both of Massachusetts. 2 Granddaughters Erica and Mackenzie Wilson of Massachusetts.
Memorial Services will be held Friday April 28,2017, 10:00 am at the First Lutheran Church, 1207 West Cypress Avenue, Redlands, CA. His cremated remains will be scattered at sea by the military to honor his life. For those who wish, the family requests contributions to the Ronald Iver Severson fund in care of:
