Long-time Redlands resident Ronald Stutt passed away September 8, 2016. He is survived by 2 nieces and numerous friends. Ron was born in Loma Linda 9/4/1929 and graduated from Redlands High School in the class of 1947. He graduated from U.C. Berkley, class of 1951 and was an Alumnus Life Member. He did his graduate work at the University of Redlands, U.C. Extension. He was a lifetime holder of a California Secondary Teaching Credential as well. He was a member of the Redlands Y.M.C.A and served as its Youth Secretary from 1951-1954 and he was the first camp director for the present "Y" Camp Edwards from 1952-1954, Redlands High School Teacher from 1954-1986 and was the Swimming and Water Polo Coach for 9 years; a Co-Coach for CIF Championship Team in 1950; Re-established the Annual Redlands Optimist Swim Relays; Teacher U.R. Secondary summer School American Government for 3 years; First RHS Water Polo Coach 1949 & First Water Polo Coach at the University of Redlands; Assistant Water Polo and Swim Coach at U.C. Berkley, 1950-1951; Teacher U.S. History, American Government, P.E. and Public Relations Coordinator; Sponsor and Advisor RHS students to Model UN - Berkley for 3 years; Established program for high school representatives to city service clubs; former member of San Bernardino County Grand Jury, 1986-1987 and was the chairman of Fiscal Comm.; Former member and Chairman, Redlands City Traffic Commission for 10 years; Former Member Environmental Board for San Bernardino County in 1988; Reserve Member and past Vice President, Redlands Optimist Club; former member of Redlands Evening Lions Club; Past volunteer for Inland Harvest food collection for local charities; Served on the Multi-Media Advisory for Redlands East Valley High School, 1996; Member of the Citizen Oversight Community for Redlands School District; Board Member of the Redlands Community Scholarship Foundation; Subscribing Member of the Redlands Historical Glass Museum and Redlands History Museum; Subscribing Member of Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library; Member of California Teachers Association, Redlands/Yucaipa Chapter; Member of Redlands First Congregational Church since 1942 and a Member of Redlands Elks Lodge #583 for 65 years. Ron was a beloved teacher at RHS He enjoyed reading, gardening and swimming. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Redlands ASPCA. Services will be held on Friday September 16, 2016, 12:00 Noon at Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Avenue, Redlands, CA 92373. Followed by interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
