Ruth P. Quintana

Ruth (Cuca) was born on Dec 24th 1912 in Aguas Calientas, Mexico. At just two years old she traveled by train to present day New Mexico with her father and mother, Pauline and Delfino Perdroza. She lived briefly in Los Angeles at the age of 4 and then moved to San Bernardino where she met and married Michael J. Quintana at the age of 22. After being married, she moved to Redlands, a town she called home for 80 years. Ruth loved her Redlands home, built by her late husband of 70 years, Michael J. Quintana. She helped design the layout of the house and paid attention to every detail as it was being built. She was an avid gardener and housekeeper and enjoyed spending her days pruning her rose garden and making homemade tortillas for her grandchildren and their friends. She loved to tell stories of her youth and would sit for hours telling about her journey to Redlands and how she met her love, Mike, her macaroni . She would tell how he went to Milton s Place in Colton where she worked as a waitress and asked for her to be his waitress. She loved to tell stories about her parents and how they met on a hacienda in Mexico and how she helped to raise her 8 siblings whom she cherished. Ruth was a resilient woman who s strong will and determination gave her 101 independent years of life. Her advice and life stories were timeless and will be cherished forever. She was an inspiration to her family and friends and even strangers for her longevity and healthy spirit. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Olivia DeLeon, grandson Mark DeLeon, granddaughter Lorraine Loera, 8 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, sister Mary Martus, brother Leo Perdoza, nieces, nephews, and many loved ones. Waiting at the gates of heaven are her parents Pauline and Delfino Perdoza, husband Mike Quintana, brothers Tony, Manuel, Joe, Jess, and Robert, sister Lupe, and beloved grandson Tracy DeLeon. A celebration of Ruth s 101 years will begin at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave. with viewing from 9:00-10:30 am followed by mass at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 115 W. Olive Ave. at 11:00 am. On Friday July 11, 2014 with burial to follow at Montecito Memorial Park. Nana, we love you and will miss you tremendously.
