Bob and Sharon Ludington’s love story began as sweetly as it ended. But how did a boy from
Arkansas and a girl from California get together?
When Bob was in the Air Force, he was stationed with Sharon’s cousin, Tom, who gave Sharon’s
address to Bob. The two started corresponding and over time fell in love. In 1966, they married
in San Timoteo Canyon where Sharon grew up. After a few years as newlyweds, Heidi, Becky
and James were added to their family.
Declaring the love of Jesus was constantly at the center of their lives. For decades, Sharon was
the Children’s Ministry Leader for her local Bible Study Fellowship. Bob was equally committed
to the Lord, and they faithfully served at their church and at summer church camps.
Their family grew when Heidi married Alan and James married Jamie. They were overjoyed
when grandchildren joined them: first Jai, then Ellie and finally Nevi. Each grandchild had a
special relationship with Bob and Sharon, and all three grandchildren enjoyed deeper
connections with them in recent years.
Bob and Sharon are survived by siblings Bill (Carolyn) Ludington, Jim DeWitt, Linda (Joe) Karr, Donna (Les) Gilman, and Chris DeWitt. This special family
regularly gathered for holiday dinners. For years, they had a standing date for Monday morning
breakfast together.
Both Bob and Sharon’s parents, as well as two of Bob’s brothers have preceded them in death.
Bob and Sharon did everything together, and even spent their last days in hospital rooms down
the hall from each other. Sharon passed from complications related to leukemia on October 17,
and Bob passed from heart failure on October 19.
They left an extraordinary impact on those they knew. Their children, Heidi & Alan, Becky, and
James & Jamie invite you to join us at Bob & Sharon’s home to celebrate their lives after this
service.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have eternal life.
