Stephen Lee Guggisberg, age 66, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, June 4, 2015. He suffered a heart attack at home. He was doing what he loved to do, tending his citrus trees and grape vines. He was born October 7, 1948 in Fullerton, CA to Vesta and Lee Guggisberg. He attended schools in Fullerton until his family moved to Redlands in 1964, when his father purchased the local Ford dealership. He graduated from Redlands High School in 1966 and received his BA from Chapman College in 1970. Upon graduating from college, Steve was recruited by the Automobile Club of Southern California and remained there until joining the family business, Inland Motors Ford in 1976. In 1996 Inland Motors Ford was sold and he went on to be a consultant to the Jurupa Area Recreation Department of Riverside County, providing auditing and accounting services. Steve began a 26 year association with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with Specialized Services Bureau and went on to become a reserve deputy sheriff, serving his community for over 22 years. In Steve's own words, "The residents and the county have been good to me over the past 45 years and it is now time to provide service in return." Steve participated in the following community and state organizations, Rotary Club of Redlands, Redlands Centennial Bank Board, Boys and Girls Club of Redlands and the City of Redlands Centennial Celebration Committee. Recently, he represented San Bernardino County at the California State Farm Bureau. Steve is survived by his mother Vesta, wife Sharon, brothers Ted (Cathy) and Brian (Laurie), daughters Amy Phillips (Floyd), Keri Guggisberg (Darrell Butler) and stepson Jonathan Foerster (Mei); grandchildren Benjamin, Amber and Erin Phillips, Marcus Butler; nieces Jaime Cash, Lauren Guggisberg and nephew Grant Guggisberg. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday June 20, 2015 at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands, CA 92373. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Central Station Reserve Unit 116, 655 E. Third Street, San Bernardino, CA 92415 or to the charity of your choice.
