Susan H. Morgan passed away February 17, 2017, at her home in Yucaipa.
A resident of Yucaipa since 1968, Susan was born May 16, 1939, in Virginia, Minnesota, to Jeanette Ekstrom Hancock and Francis Lee Hancock. Susan and her mother moved to Pomona, California in 1944. Susan graduated from Pomona High School in 1957, Mt. San Antonio College in 1959, and the University of Redlands in 1961.
Susan taught high school math at Huntington Beach and Marina High Schools in Orange County from 1962 to 1965. She left teaching for several years to raise her children. She later returned to teaching, including home and hospital teaching for San Bernardino County and working as a classroom aide at Valley Elementary School. For the last 12 years of her teaching career, from 1984 to 1996, Susan was a math teacher at Yucaipa High School.
Susan and her husband Ned and their family have been active members of Faith Lutheran Church in Yucaipa since 1968.
Susan is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ned Morgan; their children Ellen, Scott and Lee; and nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Anthony, Cassie and Katarina DiPaola, Ben and Karina Morgan, and Drake, Lauren and Riley Morgan. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Steven Hancock, her cousin/brother Rob Johnson, and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Susan and her husband spent the past 24 summers at their summer home at Amnicon Lake near Superior, Wisconsin. She had a lifelong love of reading, flowers and gardening, arts and crafts, photographs, cats and dogs, and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Yucaipa.
