Susanne Elizabeth Farmer

d. November 18, 2010

Susanne Elizabeth Farmer of Redlands, CA died November 18, 2010 at Redlands Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was 74. Mrs. Farmer, a native of Pecs, Hungary, led a life full of incidents, worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. A child during WWII she saw her family home occupied by German officers at the start of the war and liberated by Russian soldiers as the global conflict came to a close. She herself narrowly escaped being taken to the Nazi concentration camps from which many of her family members never returned. After living under the oppressive yoke of the Iron Curtain for several years, Mrs. Farmer managed to slip from Hungary and sailed into the New York harbor in 1965 under the watchful eye of Lady Liberty. She met Gene, her future husband, soon after overcoming the language barrier through careful application of the Foxtrot and Rumba. Susanne Farmer became a proud naturalized citizen of the U.S. in 1971. She and Gene built their home shortly thereafter. That house served as home court for numerous glittering gatherings and astounding meals. She served as Deaconess of The First Congregational Church of Redlands and was an active member of several civic organizations, including 3rd VP of the Redlands Womens Republican Club. Susie loved and was loved by her family, her many friends, her church, her little dog, Queenie, and most of all her late husband, Gene. Emmerson Bartlett is in charge of arrangements with a Memorial Service, November 27 at 11:00 a.m
