Thomas Charles Denmark

September 4, 1942 — July 20, 2015

Thomas Charles Denmark Born at Loma Linda Sanitarium in 1942 to Milton "Denny" and Elaine Pellymounter Denmark while Denny was a medical student at Loma Linda University School of Medicine (SOM), Tom grew up in San Jose before attending Newberry Park Academy and then Pacific Union College in Angwin, CA. He said he was a Religion major and he enjoyed that, but his real passion was basketball and tennis. He graduated from Loma Linda University SOM in 1967, completed an internship at Portland Adventist Hospital and then Internal Medicine residency through the Air Force at Keesler AFB in Biloxi MS. He completed his obligations to the Air Force at Mather AFB in Sacramento and then moved further north to a rural practice in Oroville, CA. Following 9 years of private practice, the family moved back to Loma Linda where he joined the Medicine faculty until moving to be the Medical Director at Leisure World Medical Center in Seal Beach in 1990. Following the diagnosis of Parkinson's and retirement, in 2005 they moved to Redlands to be next door to their grandkids. In each of the locations where they lived, Tom and Barbara enjoyed a rich network of friends that laughed and cried together, ran and jogged and did all sorts of outdoor activities together, wrestled through raising children together, dealt with aging parents and then their own health issues- but always in a strong community of faith. Tom was very vocal about how blessed he felt by the friends and relatives that made his life so rich. He is survived by his wife of 50 years (last week) Barbara (Bradbury) Denmark; son Kent daughter-in-law Laura, daughter Kristen, son-in-law Nate, , grandchildren Jordan (21), Kaleb (18), Kyra (15), Alexia (12), Micah (11) and Jonathan (9); brother Steven, sisters Susan, Lucinda and Denise. A memorial service will be held Saturday July 25, 2015 at 2 PM at the First Congregational Church of Redlands, 2 W Olive St, Redlands followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Psalm 71:18 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.
