Timothy Eldon Andersen, 63, passed away on January 20th, 2018 at Redlands Community Hospital with his family at his side.
Tim was born in Fontana, California on October 3rd, 1954 to parents Roy and Beverly. The middle sibling of two sisters, Sandy and Lori, Tim grew up in Rialto. He attended Eisenhower High School where he was a multi-sport athlete and a standout first baseman.
Shortly after graduation, Tim worked as a shoe salesman at May Company in San Bernardino. While on a break, he took a trip to the candy counter where he met a cashier that would become the love of his life and eventual wife of over forty years. Tim and Mary were wed in Redlands in 1977. Following their marriage, Tim and Mary settled in Redlands. 1987 brought the birth of Tim’s first son, Matt and Eric followed in 1991.
Tim began his career in banking in the 1980s at First Interstate Bank before moving on to Citizens Business Bank. His work took him throughout Southern California where he worked with a diverse group of clients and made lifelong friends.
In 2003, Tim was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which was thought to be terminal. Never one to take no for an answer, Tim eventually found himself at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. It was there where he underwent a cutting-edge procedure which gave him a new lease on life.
The ongoing stresses of recovery prevented him from returning to work but afforded him the luxury of time which was spent with his family. He took great pride in providing guidance and mentoring in his sons’ lives.
In mid 2017, Tim’s annual checkup revealed that his cancer had returned. After fighting for fifteen years, he chose to focus on quality of life treatments. His final months were peaceful and spent with friends and family. On any given Saturday in the Fall, Tim could be found watching his beloved USC Trojans football team while drinking a diet Sunkist.
Tim will be remembered for his charismatic personality and devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Matt and Eric and granddaughter Emma.
Services will be held at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel in Redlands on Friday, January 26th at 1:00 PM.
