On December 20, 2017 Tom Lee Stafford ascended the surly bonds of earth and was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.
Tom was born in Redlands Ca. on July 10, 1939 to Leon and Alice Stafford and graduated from Redlands High School in 1957. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo before marrying Catherine Marie Follett in May of 1961. Tom began his professional career as a draftsman with architect Robert Van Roekel before working for Lockheed Propulsion Company located in Mentone, Ca. After five years Tom left Lockheed to join architect Paul F. Madison as lead designer before beginning his own business as a building designer in 1990. Tom’s business, Stafford Design Group, primarily focused on the design and preparation of construction documents for residential structures in Redlands and surrounding communities.
Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and particularly enjoyed his annual (and sometimes semi-annual) trips to Pismo Beach. His interests included golfing, painting, reading, following his favorite professional sports teams (Rams, Lakers, Dodgers, and Angels) and watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren play sports locally through high school.
Tom his survived by his wife Cathy Stafford of Yucaipa, mother Alice Stafford of Redlands, brother Jerry (Deanna) Stafford of Redlands, daughter Sandy (Mike) Tossetti of Oak Glen, son Mark (Joann) Stafford of Yucaipa, granddaughter Sarah (Doug) Bloom of Yucaipa, grandson Cory (Brittney) Tossetti of Denver, grandson Kevin Hakala of Redlands, grandson Kyle (Arissia) of Yucaipa, grandson Dalton Stafford of Yucaipa, great grandson Nicholas Bloom of Yucaipa, great granddaughter Kirsten Bloom of Yucaipa, and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will take place at Emmerson Bartlett Mortuary in Yucaipa on January 6th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the American Cancer Society.
