Verlon C. Strait, Jr.

Verlon C. Strait, Jr., the eldest of Verlon C. Strait Sr and Helen J. Strait children was born on June 28, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA. The Strait family resided in Pacoima, CA (the valley) where Verlon, Jr. attended elementary, junior high school and high school. Verlon, Jr. accepted Christ at a young age. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pacoima in Pacoima, CA. Verlon, Jr. was a all-star athlete at John F. Kennedy High School and even rivaled against John Elway formerly of the Denver Broncos. Verlon, Jr. went on to play football at West Los Angeles College in Los Angeles, CA. Verlon loved cars. He was a member of the LA Superior Car Club and owned several low riders. He also owned sports cars, trucks and SUV s. In 1981, Verlon, Jr. began his family with his first born Verlon, III, followed by Erica in 1984, Renisha in 1985 and Vanessa in 1988. Verlon, Jr. was an entrepreneur and a real estate investor. He became a personal trainer and established Strait Fitness in Ontario, CA, an ice cream parlor in La Puente, CA and several real estate properties across southern California. Verlon, Jr. s weekly activity was attending the movie theater. He also loved spending time with his family, attending family functions, eating and drinking coffee and ice cold milk. Verlon, Jr. was very supportive of all the children in his life. He loved attending all sporting events, recitals, talent shows, baptism, graduations, etc. Verlon was very encouraging and loved to see everyone succeed. He made sure that he was the ONLY man you would depend on. Verlon, Jr. relocated to Victorville, CA in 2004 where he enjoyed playing dominos and hanging out with grandchildren, family and friends. Verlon, Jr. spent every day with his grandchildren. He enjoyed picking them up from school and having slumber parties. Even with declining health, Verlon, Jr. opened his home to anyone in need. He also began the tradition of having annual holiday celebrations Verlon, Jr. leaves cherish his memories his life partner Deborah; mother, Helen J. Strait-Banks; grandmother Rosetta Fuller Moody; children Verlon, III, Erica, Renisha and Vanessa; grandchildren Savannah, Tylia, Shyanna, Tyrie, Jr., Re janna, E Nyah, Ty reon, Verlonna and Cali Rose; brothers Kevin, Aaron and Ryan; and a host of relatives and friends.
