Vernon "Lee" Freeman Vernon Lee Freeman, aged 92, formally of Oceanside, Ca. passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, in Redlands, Ca. Lee was born August 11, 1922, in Neligh, Nebraska, to Miner and Effie Freeman.As a youth, he enjoyed swimming competitions and ran track at L.A. Polytechnic H.S. Lee played table tennis in the eatly 50's, and was a California State Doubles Champion.Lee proudly served during WWll in the Army. He later attended USC on the GI bill, graduating with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1950 he met Evelyn, the love of his life, at Big Bear Lake. They were married 64 years, until Evelyn died in July, 2014. Lee was an accomplished aeronautical engineer, with numerous accomplishments, including work on the Saturn launch system. Of all his successes though Lee was proudest of his long standing marriage, and his children, Scott and Deborah. Lee is remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, his creative intellect, and his loyalty to family and friends. A celebration of life is planned on Friday, 2 P.M. March 6, 2015, at Mission Commons Retirement Community, 10 Terracina Blvd., Redlands, CA. Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.
