Victoria (Vicki)Herrera Stadler went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2016. She was in the comfort of her daughter’s home surrounded by family. She was 89 years old (just 4 weeks shy of her 90th birthday.) Vicki was born in Rancho Cucamonga on December 23, 1926 to Epitacio and Eleuteria Ornelas. She was the youngest of seven children. Vicki graduated from Chaffey College with an AA Degree. She married Felix Herrera on December 10, 1955. Together they had four children, Monica (Walter)Huffman, Paul Herrera, Carolyn Griggs, and Bernadette(Von) Layvas. Vicki worked at Norton Airforce Base, Bank of America and Kaiser Permanente Hospital. She retired from Kaiser after 19 years of service. Sadly, Felix passed away in 1992 and Monica in 2002.
Vicki married LeRoy DeRosa four years later in 1996, he passed away 18 months later after a short illness.
In 2006, she found love again and married Alfons Stadler. Together they enjoyed family and life for ten wonderful years. Vicki gained a new family with nine children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren after marrying Alfons. She was an active member at Saint Francis Cabrini Church and part of the Catholic Daughters.
Both Vicki and Alfons came to live with her daughter Berna, her husband Von, and family in February 2016. Alfons passed away with Vicki by his side on May 30, 2016 after a long illness. Only six short months later, Vicki went to join him in heaven.
Vicki leaves behind three children, Paul Herrera, Carolyn Griggs, and Bernadette (Von) Layvas, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She also leaves behind eight children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Alfons Stadler.
Vicki touched the lives of many with her unconditional love and un-wavering faith. She was known as “Grandma tortilla” to many children in the neighborhood. Vicki lived her life graciously through God. It is true that, “A life will lived is a beautiful legacy,” and Vicki truly left a beautiful one!
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be on December 30, 2016 at Saint Francis Cabrini Church in Yucaipa at 1045 AM. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery. Reception to follow at Saint Francis Cabrini Parish Center.
