Vladimir Vidmar Barak of Chino Hills, California, died December 10, 2015, at Pacifica-Butterfield Senior Living. Born November 6, 1919, in Painsdale, Michigan, formerly from Calimesa, Fullerton and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, “Val” was one of nine siblings. He served in the U. S. Amy during World War II with the 27th Armored Field Artillery, 1st Armored Div., in N. Africa and Italy, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Battle Star. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, of 69 years, sons Edward of Winona, MN and Alan of New Auburn, WI; daughters Margaret Coonan of Oak Creek, WI and Ann Vineyard of Chino Hills. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Val retired from the City of Milwaukee and the Auto Club of So. Cal. Val was a proud member of Veterans for Peace and Citizens Action for Peace. Arrangements handled by Emmerson Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Yucaipa, and Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care, 8686 Haven Avenue, Suite 300, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730.
