Willetta N. Sandel Willetta N. Willie Sandel, a longtime resident of Redlands, died May 4 at Somerford Place, in Redlands. She was 92. She was born on November 20, 1919, in Fresno, CA, to William and Grace Baker. Willie proudly served her country as a civilian personnel specialist in the U. S. Air Force. In a career that spanned over 30 years, she received numerous commendations and letters of appreciation for her service. Assignments included March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA, Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, CA and Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Mrs. Sandel attended Trinity Church in Redlands. She loved cooking, traveling, gardening, entertaining and being with family and friends. She possessed a deep love for animals and compassion for others. Survivors include her son, Jim Seibert; and daughters Cory Barrentine and Keely Kapko-Schardt; and 7 wonderful grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, H. E. Tiny Sandel. A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate the life of Willie will be held at Trinity Church, 1551 Reservoir Road, Redlands, on Wednesday, May 16, at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Somerford Place in Redlands, CA and Charter Hospice in Colton, CA to honor their amazing employees who cared so deeply for Willie.
